JOB SUMMARY

To safely drive the company vehicles on official business.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • To prepare timely accident reports.
  • To update timely and accurately log books and fuel analysis reports in order to enhance accountability of business trips.
  • To regularly check vehicles in order to ascertain the road worthiness.
  • General office support as assigned by supervisor and other senior staff
  • Responsible for collection & delivery of documents, mail and materials as well as any other messenger duties to enable the smooth flow of work
  • Transporting staff, visitors, and partners
  • Ensure the vehicle is given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks: check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc.
  • Ensure that safe driving skills are adhered to including local driving codes and internally agreed standards
  • Carrying out other company duties as may be assigned

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Full Grade Twelve Certificate
  • A valid and clean Zambian/ SADC driver’s license (Minimum Class C) and knowledge about automobile maintenance
  • At least 3 years proven working experience as a Driver in a reputable company
  • Highly conversant with the SADC road traffic laws and regulations
  • Good spoken and written English.

OTHER SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Motor vehicle mechanic certificate or equivalent an added advantage
  • Financial Institution working experience is preferable.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and availability to work outside of normal business hours, as required.
  • Good communication skills with working knowledge of some local languages
  • Team player, self-motivated, courteous, and humble individual.

Project information and scope:
Howard University international incorporated under the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Global Health Consortium (GHC) is a PEPFAR funded Non-Governmental Organization that Leverages on health service equity approaches to achieve sustainable HIV epidermic control and prioritizes sub population with unmet needs through evidence-based approaches designed to transform clinical HIV practice.

Howard University’s mandate in Zambia is to support the Ministry of Health (MOH) in implementation of Differentiated Service Delivery (DSD-plus) in selected high-volume public health care facilities. The goal of this mandate is to improve Quality of ART care, improve viral load coverage and suppression, continuity of treatment & adherence, linkage to care, pharmacovigilance system, compliance with appointment system and to facilitate clinic decongestion through a multi-disciplinary team approach.

Position description: HUI seeks reliable and highly experienced candidates for the position of Project Driver to be based in Lusaka, Copperbelt and Southern provinces of Zambia. S/he will work closely with the Finance and Administration team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Drive assigned project vehicles and ensure the safety of passengers
  • Project vehicles remain clean and in excellent working condition at all times
  • Inspection of vehicles before driving such as checking of coolant, oil, brake fluid, tyres, brakes etc
  • Timely and accurate updates in log books and fuel analysis reports in order to enhance accountability
  • Ensure any defects are reported and consequently acted upon
  • Update all vehicle documents such as car registration and insurance
  • Ensure vehicle checklist is signed by recipient at handover
  • Adhering to National and Organizational policies and regulations regarding driving and vehicle use respectively
  • Perform other administrative tasks on behalf of the project including but not limited to: purchasing, collecting goods, documents or mail, making administrative arrangements and handling payments
  • Provision of courteous support to visitors and partners
  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisor

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Minimum grade 12 Certificate; related additional qualifications a plus
  • Valid and clean Driver’s class C License or better
  • Over 5 years driving experience with three (3) years’ experience working as a driver.
  • Experience with International Non-Governmental Organizations is preferred
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment such as computers, scanners, copiers, and telecom equipment
  • Basic computer skills required including familiarity with email and word processing. Ability to use excel spreadsheets is also preferred
  • Good interpersonal and time management skills and ability to work as part of a fast paced team

The Institute of Economic and Social Research (INESOR) of the University of Zambia will be conducting the Midline Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) as sub- contracted by DEVTEC/EDC, in the five target provinces of USAID-funded Let’s Read Project (Eastern, Western, North-western, Muchinga, and Southern) and ii) National Estimates Research Study – which includes data from 1,228 schools from all the 10 provinces of Zambia. Data collection for both EGRA and SSME is planned for October to November 2021.

INESOR now seeks applications from eligible and AVAILABLE Zambians to participant in the Midline evaluation as i) Trainers/ Language Specialists (14); Quality Control Officers (82) and iii) Assessors (246).

Required Qualifications/Experience:

Trainers/Language Specialists (14)

  • To train QCOs and Assessors
  • First degree (preferably in education)
  • Fluency in any of the Zambia local languages of instruction (A MUST)
  • Advantage: primary teaching experience and previous experience with EGRA and survey research.
  • Experience in training/facilitation

2. Quality Control Officers (QCO)/Supervisors (82)

  • To provide quality control of the data collected by the assessors during EGRA data collection exercise.
  • First degree in primary education or related
  • A minimum experience of 2 years in data quality management and assessment
  • Advantage: Teaching experience as a teacher and previous experience with EGRA

Assessors (267)

  • To assess grade 2 learners in reading
  • Minimum of Diploma in Education, preferably primary level;
  • Undergraduate degree in any field will be added advantage
  • Advantage: Teaching experience as a teacher and previous experience with EGRA

All positions;

  • Ability to speak and read one local language of the assessment (Silozi, Ichibemba, Chitonga, Chinyanja, Lunda, Luvale and Kikaonde)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Proficiency in using a computer or hand-held device (tablet)
  • Ready to work in the field in some hard-to-reach locations
