Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the North-Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Training Coordinator.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Security Operations Superintendent, you will be responsible for providing compliance training programmes and support to the security department and security contract service provider.
Your duties will include but not limited to the following:
Responsibilities
· Effective implementation of Barrick security policies and procedures.
· Develop, maintain up to date SOPs and job description for all tasks performed within the function.
· Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders in LMC’s mining activities, consistent with Barrick’s Community Relations Policies.
· Maintain a secure, comprehensive data base, and updated skills matrix and ensure training compliance.
· Create a working environment which ensures that employees and business partners gain new skills achieve their full potential by developing and implementing effective training and mentoring programmes.
· Ensure that there is a sufficient standard of training, experience in the department and guard force to allow the appropriate application of response strategies to any emergency that could seriously threaten life or property on LMC property.
· Ensure compliance with overarching statutory requirements and adherence to international norms with regard training and development.
· Ensure department wide compliance to the companies training requirements for employees and security contract providers both on and off site, affiliated to LMC.
· Provide training, leadership and support to ensure that employees and security contract providers comply with industry best practice and legislative requirements.
· Conducting training needs analyses and developing training tools & methodologies to close training gaps
Experience & Qualifications
· Degree /Diploma in Education/Security and Risk Management or related field.
· 3 years practical experience in the training of security, law enforcement in the Mining industry or any recognised institution.
· High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the Mining industry in Zambia.
· Advanced computer literacy
· Advanced experience in weapon training will be an added advantage
