Founded in 2002, by President William J. Clinton and Ira C.
Magaziner, the Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (“CHAI”) is a global
health organization committed to saving lives, reducing the burden of disease
and strengthening integrated health systems in the developing world.
CHAI seeks a full-time Program Accountant to work with the
CHAI Zambia Finance and Administration team. Dynamic individuals with strong
financial management experience, organizational skills, and ability to handle
fast-paced work environments with immense responsibilities are sought for this
role. This position will be based in Lusaka, Zambia and will report to the
Finance Manager and work closely with Program Teams and the CHAI Headquarters
Finance Team.
Responsibilities
- Support
preparation of monthly cash financial reports including bank
reconciliations and other supporting documents for submission to the
Finance Manager and HQ Finance Team.
- Prepare
cash flow forecasts and submit the cash needs on a monthly basis to the
Boston Office
- Maintain
and closely monitor accurate cashbooks for all the bank accounts
- Negotiate
foreign exchange transactions with the banks in a manner that will be
beneficial to CHAI
- Manage
petty cash and travel advances and ensure that all expenses and payments
are processed in a timely manner and based on appropriate documentation
and approval
- Review
travel expense reports and ensure that all retirements are done within the
stipulated time
- Ensure
accurate recording of expenses, in Quick Books, for Finance Manager’s
approval before posting
- Participate
in developing, maintaining, and revising policies and procedures for the
general operation of the finance and compliance functions and related
activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct and ensure
compliance with national laws and CHAI wide policies and procedures
- Ensure
adherence to systems and controls, make recommendations for
improvements/adjustments
- Participate
in the CHAI budgeting process and offer guidance and advice to Programs on
budget related issues
- Work
with the Finance Manager to support all programs with expenditure tracking,
forecasts, and donor reporting to submit to the program donors in a timely
manner
- Work
with the program teams to project accurate spends, and communicate to the
program donors, if spends vary
- Assist
in preparing for all internal and external audits and participate in the
audit process
- Support
management of vendor relationships and ensure all bills and invoices are
paid in a timely manner
- Support
the management of the office insurance matters
- Ensure
all filing is done on an as-needed basis and in a timely fashion
- Perform
any other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Full
ACCA qualification with at least 5 years professional experience in a
similar position
- Up to
date ZICA Membership is a must
- Proven
track record of producing successful and organized financial reports
- Ability
to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and work with a
busy team
- Ability
to work collaboratively and creatively with a wide range of team members
to inspire teamwork and achieve results
- Experience
working effectively with diverse teams with varying cultural and
professional backgrounds and skill sets
- Exceptional
organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and
interpersonal capabilities
- Excellent
written and oral communication skills
- Strong
MS Excel skills required and ability to work in all other MS Office
programs
