Background
URC seeks qualified Health Systems & Service Delivery Team Leader candidates to support the anticipated USAID-funded Zambia Scaling up Nutrition Technical Assistance project. SUN TA supports implementation of the 1,000 Most Critical Days program, and will enhance the management and implementation of the SUN Pooled Fund by providing high-level technical assistance including support for planning, implementation and monitoring at the district and sub-district levels.
Roles and Responsibilities
Health Systems & Service Delivery Team Leader will provide strategic and technical leadership within the anticipated integrated nutrition program and be responsible for improved delivery of effective, sustainable health and nutrition services. This position ensures a seamless link between service delivery interventions and systems development. Functionally, the incumbent will oversee and monitor interventions that strengthen health system capacity to deliver essential health, family planning, and nutrition services and provide nutrition support services to vulnerable groups.
Qualifications
- Master’s
degree in nutrition, public health, health policy and administration,
health financing, health sector development, public health, or related
field
- Minimum
of ten years’ experience in managing and implementing health systems
strengthening programs in southern Africa; specific experience in Zambia
strongly preferred
- Expertise
in health financing and budgeting strongly preferred
- Demonstrated
experience of developing effective working relationships with senior
stakeholders from government agencies, international organizations,
private sector entities, academic institutions, community organizations,
and donors at national, regional and global level
- Excellent
communication skills and strong inter-personal and supervisory skills,
including the demonstrated ability to lead teams of technical specialists
- Ability
to work independently and with team members and partners at all levels
- Strong
analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to think and plan
strategically
- Strong
work experience with local and international partners in Zambia, including
both private and public partners
- Fluency
in written and spoken English
- Zambian
