Systems Administrator
Responsibilities
Job Purpose:
• To be responsible for the installation, implementation and
maintenance of software and hardware solutions to meet the requirements of
Mulungushi University.
Principal Accountabilities:-
• Configuration, implementation and suppolt of the
University’s ICT systems and services. For example the Domain controller, DNS,
web servers, e-mail environment, etc
• Setup, maintenance and support of University physical and
virtual server infrastructure
• Ensuring cost effective management of hardware resources
• Ensuring data security of all systems and services by
creating automated backups, monitoring systems; maintaining local firewalls,
etc
• Documenting systems and services
Qualifications
• Grade 12 Certificate with at least 5 credits
• Diploma in Computer Science
• A Degree in Computer Science will be an added advantage
• Professional Certification such as I-PIC-I, MTA or MCSA
will be an added advantage
• Wide knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows systems is
required
• Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware
ESK KVM, Xen
• Experience with managing server rooms
• Knowledge of identity management platforms
• Advanced networking knowledge
• Basic programming knowledge
